I am a sixth-year Ph.D. student in Societal Computing at Carnegie Mellon University, where I am fortunate to be advised by Yuvraj Agarwal.
My primary research interest lies at the intersection of systems, machine learning, and IoT, with a primary goal to build safe, reliable software and systems for ubiquitous intelligence. My current research focuses on building large-scale systems and machine learning applications in IoT, specifically to make it easier to create fast, safe, affordable, and maintainable applications. My work has led to the establishment of a first-of-its-kind IoT testbed through the deployment of the Mites system in the newly constructed CMU TCS building. Along these lines, my current projects include:
- Building a large-scale ubiquitous sensing infrastructure for real-world at-scale sensor deployments to study new applications, privacy implications and devise new privacy abstractions.
- Building machine learning platforms geared towards minimizing user burden to using Machine Learning applications in IoT; specifically developing new techniques for data featurization, learning events, and serving machine learning models.
If any of this resonates with you, I'd love to hear from you. The best way to reach me is sudershan [at] cmu.edu. Feel free to reach out if you have questions about my work or want to chat!
📢 I am on the job market and I am interested in both academia and industry positions. If you know of any openings, please feel free to contact me. Here is my CV.
